First non-impulse electronics purchase in Singapore

I bought a Canon EOS 400D today ^_^.

Swapped the kit lens for the EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM.

SGD2000 exactly from Sim Lim Square (next door to my place, Singapore's electronics Mecca).

Got about a week and a half to practice before I unleash Europe on it! Got a week to decide whether or not I need to get the crazy 10-22mm super wide angle lens ;)

10mm is sick - it sounds too good to be true. A short lense is less than 20mm, and they set you back a lot of money.

In any case, I look forward to seeing whatever it is that you capture with your new toy.

Check out the review they have of the lens at http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Canon1022EFS/.

Of course, that lens only fits a non-full frame Canon body, so multiply that range by 1.6.

There's so much many options, settings and buttons to press. Already worked out that the white balance is my friend in Singapore (to counter these recently dreary grey days).

About 1100 SGD here for that lens, so just a tad over 900 NZD
